Operators sometimes ask why we decline assessments on older USB miners or low-output hobby rigs. The threshold is not arbitrary branding—it reflects when fan wear, hash board failures, and PSU stress become recurring rather than one-off events.

At sustained outputs below 0.05 terahashes per second, units often run until catastrophic failure because replacement boards cost more than the remaining hash value. Distributors stop stocking parts except as salvage pulls. Our warehouse visits in 2024 and 2025 consistently showed zero confirmed stock for several legacy Antminer S7 and S9 subvariants in Korean supply chains.

When output exceeds 0.05 TH/s on modern ASIC lines, OEM and aftermarket channels still carry fans, PSUs, and hash boards with documented lead times. Maintenance crews can justify on-site spares inventory. That is the band where a written assessment changes purchasing and hosting decisions.
